Agent Authorization and Builder Fee

The trading agent and builder-fee approval are separate Hyperliquid permissions. One allows automated order actions. The other authorizes the fee rate displayed during setup.

Two approvals, two purposes

For the underlying platform behavior, see Hyperliquid's current API wallet and builder code documentation.

ApprovalPurposeWhat to verify
Agent authorizationLets a separate agent key submit trading actions for the account.Account address, FiatBear agent name, wallet prompt.
Builder-fee approvalAllows the current FiatBear builder fee to be included with eligible orders.Builder identity and the rate displayed by FiatBear.
FiatBear dialog titled Approve FiatBear builder fee before the first wallet signature
Signature 1 of 2: builder-fee approval. FiatBear names the permission before asking you to sign. Confirm the actual builder and fee rate in the wallet.
FiatBear dialog titled Authorize FiatBear trading agent before the second wallet signature
Signature 2 of 2: trading-agent authorization. This is a separate revocable trade permission and cannot authorize withdrawals. Verify the request in the wallet prompt. Captured from a disposable account on 2026-07-23.

What the agent can do

  • Submit supported trading actions for the authorized Hyperliquid account.
  • Manage copied orders and positions within the actions supported by the integration.
  • Continue working without asking your user wallet to sign every copied order.

What the agent cannot do

Hyperliquid treats transfers and withdrawals as user-signed actions. The agent authorization is not your user-wallet private key and does not grant the agent the ability to sign those user-only actions.

What FiatBear stores

FiatBear creates a separate agent key and stores its secret in encrypted form with your exchange connection. Your user wallet remains responsible for authorizing that agent. The public wallet address and authorization status are used to validate the connection.

How the builder fee works

FiatBear has no monthly plan. Copy trading requires the Hyperliquid builder-fee approval shown during connection. Hyperliquid applies that approved fee to eligible fills that carry FiatBear's builder code. The rate is provided by the current application so the documentation does not freeze a value that may later change. Review the rate in the wallet prompt before signing.

If the required approval is missing or below the current rate, FiatBear asks the user wallet to approve it. Copying can stop until the approval is valid again.

Agent expiry and renewal

Agent authorization is temporary. FiatBear records the reported validity and can warn before the agent becomes unusable. Renew from Settings > Exchanges with the wallet that owns the Hyperliquid account. Do not wait for a failed live order if the page already reports an expiry warning.

Disconnecting safely

  1. First remove the exchange assignment from each copied trader so no new copy action is armed.
  2. Review live orders and positions directly in Hyperliquid. Disconnecting does not mean those positions are closed.
  3. Remove or replace the FiatBear exchange connection.
  4. Use Hyperliquid's current account controls if you also want to revoke an agent authorization.
