This is one complete beginner example: use MetaMask Mobile to buy the required assets with a supported bank or card provider, deposit native USDC from Arbitrum into Hyperliquid, then connect the same wallet to FiatBear through WalletConnect.
Why this example uses MetaMask Mobile
- The wallet can show available bank, card, and payment-provider options in one place.
- The same wallet can connect to Hyperliquid and scan FiatBear's WalletConnect QR code.
- You avoid moving funds between a mobile wallet and a separate browser-extension wallet.
WalletConnect makes signing easier across phone and desktop. It does not itself fund the wallet. The purchase provider and the selected asset and network still determine where your funds arrive.
1. Install and secure MetaMask
- Install MetaMask Mobile only from the official app-store link reached through metamask.io.
- Create a new wallet and write the Secret Recovery Phrase down offline.
- Do not photograph, email, upload, or paste that phrase into FiatBear, Hyperliquid, a support chat, or a website.
- Set a strong local unlock code and enable the phone's normal device protection.
- Open the account details and note the complete public wallet address. This address is safe to compare during setup; the recovery phrase and private key are not.
2. Buy USDC and gas on Arbitrum
MetaMask's current buy guide explains the provider selection and payment flow. MetaMask chooses available offers based on region, token, network, amount, and payment method.
- In MetaMask Mobile, select Buy.
- Select Arbitrum as the network before selecting the token.
- Select the native USDC accepted by Hyperliquid's current Deposit screen. Do not substitute USDC.e or another bridged token because the ticker looks similar.
- Enter a small first amount, compare the total received after provider fees, and choose an available bank, card, or other payment method.
- Complete any identity checks directly with the selected provider. FiatBear is not involved in this purchase.
- Make a separate small purchase of ETH on Arbitrum if the wallet has none. ETH pays the Arbitrum transaction fee when depositing USDC.
- Wait until MetaMask shows both assets on Arbitrum before continuing.
3. Connect the wallet to Hyperliquid
- Open app.hyperliquid.xyz from the MetaMask in-app browser or use Hyperliquid's supported mobile connection flow.
- Select Connect and choose MetaMask.
- Compare the complete connected address with the public address you noted earlier.
- Review and sign Hyperliquid's gasless Enable Trading request.
4. Deposit the USDC
- In Hyperliquid, select Deposit.
- Select the current USDC deposit route from Arbitrum.
- Verify the token, network, connected address, and amount again.
- Deposit a small test amount and confirm the transaction in MetaMask.
- Keep enough ETH in MetaMask to pay the Arbitrum transaction fee.
- Wait until Hyperliquid credits the deposit before sending more.
5. Make the balance usable for Perps
A credited deposit is not the final readiness check. In Standard mode, move the intended USDC amount from Spot to Perps. In Unified mode, do not make a blind internal transfer. In both modes, open the Perps interface and verify a positive Available to Trade amount.
Use Make Funds Available for Perps if the balance is missing, in Spot, or lower than expected.
6. Connect the same wallet to FiatBear
- On a desktop or tablet, open FiatBear Settings > Exchanges.
- Add Hyperliquid and choose Connect with Wallet, then WalletConnect.
- In MetaMask Mobile, open the QR scanner and scan FiatBear's code.
- Verify that FiatBear shows the same complete public address used by Hyperliquid.
- Approve the wallet session.
- Review and sign the builder-fee approval and the separate trading-agent authorization. Neither request needs your recovery phrase or private key.
- Return to FiatBear and wait for the connection success state.
7. Prove the setup with Dry Run
Follow Get Your First Copy Trade. Start with small USD limits and Dry Run enabled. Do not enable live copying until a new trader event produces the expected simulated result.
Common beginner mistakes
- Buying USDC on Ethereum, Base, or another network instead of Arbitrum.
- Buying USDC.e because it looks like USDC.
- Buying USDC but no ETH for the Arbitrum deposit transaction.
- Connecting a different MetaMask account to FiatBear than the one used on Hyperliquid.
- Sending the full intended amount before a small test deposit succeeds.
- Treating a visible Spot balance as proof that Perps orders can use it.
- Entering the recovery phrase or private key into a website or support message.
