Start with a simulated event, inspect the result, then enable a small live position cap only when the connection and risk controls behave as expected.
1. Follow a trader
- Open Discover or Showcase, or go directly to Settings > Traders.
- Review the trader's address and current activity.
- Select Follow. A newly followed trader starts in Watching state until you assign copying settings.
2. Create a safe configuration
Named, reusable configurations live on Settings > Configurations. The same risk controls appear when you edit a followed trader.
- Open Settings > Configurations.
- Name the configuration clearly, such as
HL Dry Run 100. - Review the suggested Starting position budget and Maximum position budget.
- Open Advanced Settings and enable Dry Run.
- Save the configuration.
- Open Settings > Exchanges, edit your Hyperliquid account, and review Maximum open positions for this account under Advanced Options.
3. Arm Dry Run
- Edit the followed trader.
- In Copy Trading, select your Hyperliquid connection.
- Select the Dry Run configuration.
- Save the trader.
- Confirm the trader now shows Copying.
4. Inspect the first simulated result
Open Copy Trades after the trader changes a position. A Dry Run row should show what FiatBear would have ordered. Check:
- Trader and asset are correct.
- Long or short direction is allowed by your configuration.
- Calculated USD size is within both position caps.
- Leverage is the value you intended.
- Any skipped event has a reason that matches your limits.
5. Move to a small live limit
- Confirm Hyperliquid still shows enough Available to Trade.
- Edit the configuration and disable Dry Run.
- Keep the starting and maximum position budgets small for the first live event.
- Save the configuration and confirm the trader remains in Copying state.
- When a new event arrives, check both Copy Trades and the actual Hyperliquid position.
